SHAME & GUILT RECOVERY

Followers of Christ have an enemy who has a rather diabolical agenda. He wants to defeat us and one of his favorite tools is shame borne out of guilt and fear. 

Guilt and shame weigh heavy on my heart because I’ve seen firsthand the power those emotions wield. They cause us to hide our wrongdoings, and blame others instead. This response became the theme of my first book, Why We Hide. 

There is a path in Scripture offering hope to overcome your desire to hide. At the beginning of the path we might find some things that seem scary: transparency, vulnerability and confession. If we avoid those three, there will be no healing. 

Confession will only occur in a safe place, and I’ll tell you up front: I’ve heard it all. You can’t surprise me. God wants you to live in freedom, not in hiding. Let’s head that direction...there’s light ahead.
